Speaking of ticketsif you’re attending and have a plus-one hanging around the Portland area (I mean, this city is pretty dang amazing and offers an ever-growing list of coffee shops, tea spots, independent movie theaters, bookstores, cozy pinball bars, and creative, locally inspired restaurants to while away an afternoon in—and we’ll be posting some VVC favorites soon), do consider bringing them and any other local friends to the equally bigger & better Galarama on Saturday, May 25th.

This event, which is home to the Silent Auction for Chimp Sanctuary Northwest, will be held at Staver Locomotive in NW Portland and includes a very special host.

More details and ticket information are at

Please note that VIP tickets are now sold out, but there are plenty of general admission spots (and attendance is included for weekend registrants, of course).

If you’d like to donate a Silent Auction item, you can sign up here. Thank you!

Heads up! VVC 2013 Is Almost Sold Out!

the last cookie

What’s sadder than the last cookie? No cookie at all.

Yeah, so even with 100 more registrant spots this year, we’re still running out of space for y’all. Wow. Our handy little PayPal inventory alert told us we are down to 30 tickets for our three-day weekend of learning and funning and eating and sharing.

They’re still available here—but we don’t want to rush you. Make sure you read through the registration info and double-check your calendars, because these are nonrefundable tickets.

Not sure about lodging and transportation? Find more information (and a ton of helpful links) on our Travel & Lodging pages. And if your questions aren’t answered on our FAQ page, email us at VidaVeganConference @ gmail . com.

For those of you who already registered, we’ll see you in May!

Technically it’s October 15 on the East Coast, so we’re going live!

Weekend registration is now available. Click here or here or here to get you some. The first 20 people who do (that’s you!) are entered to win a $50 Food Fight! gift certificate.

When you click the “Buy Now” button (after carefully reading the whole page like the smartypants you are) and see the PayPal page come up, don’t freak out if you don’t have an account; there’s an option on the order form to pay with a credit card.

Please email us at VidaVeganConference [AT] with any issues. When we’re not asleep, you best believe we’re all over this thing. It would take crazy NASA equipment to measure our excitement.

Annnnd…the next question on everyone’s mind, “Where do I stay and how much is that gonna cost?!” We’re actually meeting with University Place (at PSU) tomorrow/later today to nail that down and should have all that info up on this page for you this weekend. We’ll have a discounted block of rooms, including doubles and incredibly thrifty dorm rooms. If you would like to double up but don’t have a buddy, we’ve got the Facebook group with a discussion board ready to go. Other options we explore on the Travel page include other hotels, hostels, and couchsurfing.

Once you’ve taken care of your registration, come on back (here and to Facebook and Twitter) for more updates. Still lots to come.

And we’ll see your vegan ass next year!

“I’m thinkin’ of tryin’ out for a scholarship.”*

So you want to attend Vida Vegan Con but you’re broke as a joke? There may yet be hope! We here at the VVC are right there with ya, and we’re trying to make this conference as accessible as possible. To that end, we’re putting together cheaper lodging options, pointing you in the direction of reasonable transportation, and letting a couple of lucky folk in for free.

What’s that? Yup, two of you will be attending classes and eating lunches and walking away with a sweet swag bag on us. Two rules:

• You’re a blogger, so you can surely spare 250 words (and a link to your blog!) to explain why you are right for the scholarship. This isn’t a sob story contest; we want the spots to go to those who can really use this opportunity. Email us your entry at VidaVeganConference AT

• Just be cool. If you’re rolling in the dough, maybe step aside for someone who really needs this.

Deadline: January 1, 2011. This will allow us to announce the winners before the early-bird registration discount expires.

Note: This scholarship is for the registration fee only. You still need to get here and sleep here on your own dime.

*Bonus points for anyone who can place that movie quote!
