a place to rest your bloggy head: on-site conference lodging

Posted on Updated on

One of the many reasons we chose PSU for our conference (location, the amazing staff, supporting a public university), the on-site lodging options are pretty cool.

The hotel, actually part of the conference center, has a block of rooms set aside for us at a discounted rate—call University Place directly at 866.845.4647 and tell them you’re attending Vida Vegan Con. Two room types are available:

• $99/night: Double Doubles (find a buddy on our Facebook group)
• $94/night: Standard King

This rate is not only good for Friday and Saturday nights (8/26-27), but also up to two nights before and after, so if you are extending your stay to make a vacation of it, you can take advantage of the special rate.

The crazy-special-cheap option? The dorm rooms! These are rooms with, yes, two twin beds, but also a private bathroom with shower, coffee maker, kitchenette, bedlinens and towels, and free plug-in Internet (with rumors of free wi-fi by then). Check out this video tour.

It’s about a 3-block walk to the conference center—not too bad.

We have to rent these rooms ourselves so you’ll be dealing with us directly on this. We’ll be renting the rooms in weekend blocks only, so Friday and Saturday night, and after taxes/fees the room will be $110 total. That’s two nights for two people. See this page for the PSU Summer Housing rules and our procedure before you Paypal us the money and names of both people staying in the room.

Can’t wait for August!

I’m interested in a roommate for the Friday/Saturday dorm accommodations – but I am not on Facebook – if you’re looking for a roomie, visit me at my blog and drop a line!

I wish this conference had a real discussion board or mailing list!

We’ll go ahead and add this to the facebook group, directing them to your blog if they want to contact you.
