Here’s a special post on Getting to the Portland Art Museum.

The second Vida Vegan Conference is being held May 24-26, 2013, at the historic Portland Art Museum along the Park Blocks in downtown Portland.

Check out the museum’s list of exhibits here and ticketing information here. And the Friday night of VVC just happens to be Fourth Friday, so general admission to the museum is  free, 5-8pm, if anyone wants to take a stroll after our opening reception.

Getting to the Art Museum:

As for getting around, sure, you could rent a car, but it is so unnecessary! You can just as easily walk, bike, and take public transportation.

More information:
There is metered street parking in the area (most spaces limited to 2 or 3 hours—and you can’t just keep feeding the meters; you have to move your car to another block or you will get a ticket), and many parking garages.

More on public transit:
The Portland Art Museum is centrally located on multiple bus lines, the recently expanded Portland Streetcar system, and a few blocks from the MAX lightrail. The closest lines are technically the #6 and #15 buses, but it’s also a quick walk from any bus (which includes most lines) that stops along the downtown bus mall.

Please note, there is no more Fareless Square. Tickets are now required for all buses and trains.

The conference will take place in various rooms in the museum’s adjacent buildings. As there is no on-site accommodation, we have included suggestions on hotels, guesthouses, dining, local sights, and more, for those traveling from out of town further below.

Stay tuned for the official Vida Vegan 2013 Portland map, which will contain everywhere you’ll want to be conference weekend.
